Bismuth Oxychloride. Is it really the evil ingredient that other mineral companies would have you believe? We have found that most of what is said at other companies about Bismuth Oxychloride is just not true.
We have seen it stated that Bismuth Oxychloride is a cheap, inexpensive filler. I do all the buying and mixing of our line of mineral makeup and I can tell you that there are other less expensive ingredients!
I've also seen it stated that Bismuth Oxychloride is shiny or leaves a "glow" on the skin and that other brands are matte in comparison. Well, again, I've experimented with other ingredients and have found that our line of foundations are not shiny or need matting down after application. Actually, in comparison to the last non bismuth batch that I made, our line is very natural and not too matte or shiny at all! On top of that, I've not found another non bismuth product that lasts as long on the skin.
Now, we will believe that there are those people who may have reactions to Bismuth Oxychloride. However, there are people who have reactions to many many other things in the world too.
So while we would love to make a product that absolutely everyone could use and be happy with, we simply can't do that with one product. We are working on an alternative to our foundation line that will not have Bismuth Oxychloride in it.
